“With Google now having a presence in Malaysia, there will be an increasing demand of value added services and consultancy with regards to the Search and Social arena,” said Jackie Lee, executive chairman of ClickTRUE. Their extensive clientele includes Nikon, Nestle, Siemens, Toshiba, and more.

Jackie is well known for starting HardwareZone, a popular Singapore-based tech media company that operates a website and a few magazines. After HardwareZone was subsequently acquired bySingapore Press Holdings in 2006, the five co-founders started ClickTRUE as a subsidiary of the company.

Subsequently, ClickTRUE was bought out by Kyosei Ventures, an investment firm that funds digital media startups. Kyosei has also recently become an investor-in-residence at FounderHQ, a Singapore-based co-working space for entrepreneurs.

This seem like the starting of a trend where US/Japan companies looks at small site around the region to purchase. Not unlike Groupon’s global expansion strategy by buying out Malaysia’s clone Groupsmore. However I think this is more towards public facing sites with a whole lot of database and mindshare.

The purchased price was not announced.

2359 Media, a Singaporean leading mobile marketing provider, today announced the closing of its Series-A investment round of $1 million, accelerating plans for expansion to the US market.

SingTel Innov8, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SingTel Group, led the round, making it the first investment by the corporate venture capital fund since its launch in September 2010. In addition to its investment in 2359 Media, the two companies have agreed to work together on projects of mutual interest that will bring value to their customers. NUS Enterprise also participated in this investment round.

Founded in 2009, 2359 Media is looking to further the development of their core product, MobDis, as well as expand its distribution to the US market within the next quarter. MobDis is an HTML5-based mobile advertisement creation platform that allows marketers and designers to rapidly create, publish and share engaging mobile advertisements. 2359 Media received its initial funding from the Young Entrepreneurs Scheme for Start-Ups (Yes! Start-ups), a funding scheme initiated by SPRING Singapore and was incubated under NUS Enterprise Incubator.

“This investment represents a major milestone for 2359 Media as we make the transition from a promising early-stage technology startup into a commercial enterprise facing a growing global mobile advertising market,” said 2359 Media Co-founder Zhou Wen Han. “We are very excited as this proves the value MobDis brings in terms of innovating the way brands advertise on mobile.” The company has already begun hiring for a new office in US, scheduled to be operational by March 2011.

Plans for expansion to the US market is but a first step in the overall strategy to provide MobDis a global reach. “We look forward to achieving our vision of connecting brands and organizations to consumers whenever and wherever they are, by leveraging on the reach and infrastructure of our investors to help accelerate growth and solidify our presence in the global mobile advertising space,” said 2359 Media Co-founder Wong Hong Ting. “We welcome SingTel Innov8 and NUS Enterprise in supporting the business and providing the opportunity to push MobDis to overseas markets.”

About MobDis
MobDis is an HTML5-based platform made for marketers and designers, which allows users to create mobile web apps without the need to code. With an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface, users can create and publish a mobile advertising microsite within minutes of their first interaction with the platform without needing to download or install any software or plugins.

About 2359 Media
2359 Media aims to jumpstart the mobile web revolution by empowering anyone and everyone with MobDis, an HTML5-based platform that helps users create, publish and share rich media mobile sites on their own.

Today is the last day of 2010. Did you make everyday count? Did you make an impact in the the world or with the people around you? I am not sure about you, but these are the questions that are constantly spring in my mind as I prepare to take the challenge that is 2011.

We are all here on the earth way to briefly. In our own way, we do touch some people around us but most of the time we are way to worry about getting own problems. If you can live 2010 again, how would you change it? What will you do to make it more remarkable?

Unfortunately, 2010 will over in a couple of hours as I write this. You will then only have 365 so days to make your mark in the year 2011. There will be another 2011, so make the best of it.

“How?” you might ask.

I am a firm believer of if you set your mind to it, you can achieve it. Most people just get distracted along the way. How many time, you write a long list of resolutions and forget about it a month later? How many goals did you set last year and you did not achieve a single one?

Make a difference for 2011. Look back at 2010 and find only ONE thing in your life to improve for 2011. Focus on that ONE thing and write it down. Because, we are constantly faced with so many distractions, write it in not more than 140 characters (ala twitter).

Post it online, post it on our Facebook page, declare it to the world. Write it in a small card and bring that everywhere to remind yourself what the focus of 2011 should be. Look at the card every morning when you wake up, every time you are free and before you go to sleep.

Focus on that very one thing and work towards achieving it. You will then have stop goal setting and just started Goal Getting.

Entrepreneurs.my came to understand such initiative by Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and recommends it as a great platform to start with, the Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards 2011.

The GSEA program is the premier international award for undergraduate students who own and run their own businesses while attending post-secondary. Student entrepreneurs are nominated to compete against their peers by presenting their businesses to a panel of judges with diverse experiences in entrepreneurship.

Since 1998, the GSEA program has celebrated the success of hundreds of student entrepreneurs from 33 active countries. The program encourages students to pursue their passions while building the foundation for a solid economic future through regional and global cash awards competitions. The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) is the facilitator of the GSEA program. This connection allows student entrepreneurs to access a network that understands passion, struggle, drive and success.
