Guerrilla Entrepreneur Series is part of a greater mission to empower people to live a life of passion, balance, abundance and the greater good.

The Ministry of Higher Education will be organizing a career and entrepreneurship fair dubbed K3G this 14th to 16th May. This career exhibition is jointly organized and powered by JobStreet and will be featuring over 400 companies offering jobs to the fresh graduates.

According to Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, there are over 10,000 students that graduate in Malaysia local universities. Since not all of these graduates can visit the event in Kuala Lumpur, therefore there will be an online registration which will also help out in the registration. Saifuddin added last year there was a long queue in the registration even with 200 terminals. He highly encourage the graduates to register online.

As for the entrepreneurship, there will be a couple of talks throughout the whole 3 days which will be beneficial for the students.

Once again Malaysia premier innovation and invention showcase is happening. ITEX 2010 will bring to you over 12000 vistors with more than 100 inventions from over 10 countries. This year, ITEX will be hosting a concurrent which is the Asian Young Inventors Exhibition.

The inventors and exhibitions over in ITEX will be focusing on bringing the inventions and innovation to market. Traditionally will be also a lot of intellectual property firm exhibiting to offer their service and advice.

Just three weeks ago, Entrepreneurs.my contributer and member, Michael Teoh was invited to attend the Stanford Summit in Stanford University in Palo Alto, San Francisco, and what people know as the Silicon Valley.

The week long summit brought together 40 selected young entrepreneurs from universities, to youth movements to small businesses over to the world renowned university, for sessions, entrepreneurship challenges and contests and for them to network with the ‘Who’s Who’ of Silicon Valley.

Michael particularly recalls meeting, Randy Komisar, one of the partners in a Venture Capitalist firm in Silicon Valley, who prides his initial investments into the highly profitable Google and Amazon.com, a decade ago, when both start-ups at that point, only had two employees each. Another highlight from the experience was the entrepreneurship challenges that were organised during the summit, where participants had to ‘Sell’ an ordinary pen for the highest possible prize, and the highlight was captured when a team managed to exchange their pen for an I-Phone.

Michael describes the experience to be a truly memorable one, especially when he too was invited to give a presentation to the faculty members and students at Stanford University about Malaysia’s state of youth entrepreneurship development, in which he shared a collection of survey from Malaysia, shedding light on the involvements of youths in starting up new enterprises.

Here is video which was recorded by Michael during his trip to Stanford University, detailing how his experience was, studying, learning and networking with the authorities, faculty members and students in the university, while living the moment of actually being in the valley where Google, Facebook, Twitter and Amazon.com were founded – Silicon Valley.

Lessons from a Malaysian Youth in Stanford

In conjunction with GEW Malaysia, Alpha Catalyst Consulting has teamed up with GEW Malaysia to co-organise the Global Innovation Tournament (GIT), a globally renowned competition, recognised and pioneered by Stanford University.

The competition, which would be open to all public and private learning institutions is aimed at cultivating the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among youths in Malaysia, by providing them with a platform for them to create, plan, execute and evaluate on creative ideas and solutions for an industry in the country.

The GIT is a GEW Malaysia signature event, spearheaded by GEW Malaysia’s Innovation Catalyst – Alpha Catalyst Consulting, and mainly supported by GEW Malaysia host, Warisan Global and the GEW Malaysia Youth Catalyst – Youth Entrepreneurs Malaysia.
