TEDxKL 2011- We Have A Secret

This is the 3rd year of TEDxKL and this year it will be held on 20th of August in Blackbox Solaris. This year theme will be ” We have a secret”. The idea behind the theme is we want to look at everyday people, object and subject which seem ordinary but can be somewhat extra ordinary.

For those who are not familiar, TED with the mantra, Ideas Worth Spreading is about finding interesting and inspiring ideas which help to change the world and we licensed from TED to do TEDxKL.

We will be featuring Secretary-General of the United Nations Association of Singapore, Yap Kwong Weng, unity advocate Anas Zubedy and magician cum mentalist Zlwin Chew are but a few names in an eclectic list of speakers which also include a white-hat hacker, marine biologist turtle conservationist, award-winning poet, contemporary arts dancer and a chef who cooks for Presidents and Bollywood stars.

In addition, another special guest from Singapore, Durreen Shahnaz, Founder & Chairperson of Impact Investment Exchange, will be present to engage the audience. Durreen was selected as one of the 25 TED fellows, which spoke at TED 2010 in Long Beach, California.

TEDxKL : What Malaysia Needs?

It been a while since our last TEDxKL and it is back again.

This time it will be featuring we will be featuring speakers such as Afzal Abdul Rahim, CEO of TIME.com who co-founded Malaysia Internet Exchange. Also, Urmilah Dass, a renown clinical psychologist from Malaysia that will talk about the dangerous factor of your mind. Also we will be featuring our very own TED Fellow, Premesh Chandran of Malaysiakini and Pete Teo who is the producer of the very successful 15Malaysia Projects.

What is TEDxKualaLumpur?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Our event is call TEDxKualaLumpur, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxKualaLumpur event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

For the very first TEDxKualaLumpur, we have invited a list of interesting speakers to share their ideas and experience with the crowd.
