What is TEDxKualaLumpur?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Our event is call TEDxKualaLumpur, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxKualaLumpur event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

For the very first TEDxKualaLumpur, we have invited a list of interesting speakers to share their ideas and experience with the crowd.

The world-renowned TED Talks (ideas worth spreading) had made its local appearance in Kuala Lumpur in its “generic format” in the form of TEDxKualaLumpur, where x = independently organized TED event, courtesy of Malaysia Entrepreneurs. I attended the event and found it to be quite enlightening, although it is much debatable whether good and original business concept should be allowed to be presented as TED Talks. Perhaps a distinction should be made between pre-operational and operational business entity?

This idea of employing “X” is an interesting parallel to the “Half-Farmer Half-X” mentioned in my previous post (http://sohominium.blogspot.com/2009/01/permacul...), where X = one’s passion / purpose, while attending to the Earth, thus being a TransFarmers / Culturvator (both word-play on Transformation and Culture Innovator).

If future events organized under the banner of TEDx could help spread the awareness and practice of Permaculture (Permanent Agriculture), then TEDx could truly be TransFarmer and Culturvator in a global manner.
